Yoga รข" Tips for those taking their first class
Article by Brian Goodwin
Yoga is a series of postures or positions which are held for a period of time while doing breathing exercises or meditations. It has become increasingly popular over the last two decades as form of fitness and stress release. It is said to calm your body and mind to help achieve balance.
For those new to yoga it can all seem a little bit mysterious, serious and overwhelming. Attending your first class can be stressful if you do not know what to expect. Below I have compiled a list of straightforward tips for attending your first yoga class.
Most gyms now have regular yoga classes for various levels. Rather than signing up to an expensive private yoga school right off the bat I would recommend starting with a beginner class to see if yoga is for you. Some people prefer their exercise a little more vigorous, but some people quickly take to yoga, it is best to test it out before forking out for private lessons. The classes at a dedicated yoga school will be better and are often tailored to different levels and styles.
Your yoga teacher can seriously impact your yoga experience. You should look around and find a teacher you like. If you are spending the whole class thinking about your teacher's annoying voice or unusual nose whistle you are not going to leave the class feeling centered or relaxed. It is thought the relationship between yoga instructor and student is the most important part of yoga.
It is best to wait four to five hours after eating before you go to a yoga class. While your food is digesting there are a lot of gasses inside you. Yoga works to release those gases. If you have just eaten you are going to fart in class. The postures put pressure on your stomach and massage your internal organs. Food = Farts. Many yoga classes have been witness to almighty explosions of gases. Save yourself the embarrassment, put off eating till after class and definitely do not go to yoga in the morning if you had fried food the night before, it is asking for yoga humiliation.
It is common for beginner classes to be interrupted by fits of giggles. This is why it is best to start out in a beginner class. Yoga instructors often tell you to center your anus or focus on rectum or even do the downward dog. It's funny the first hundred times. Get all of your giggling out of the way in beginner classes with everyone else. Serious yoga practitioners don't find the anus a laughing matter.
If you are over 50, out of shape, have a preexisting medical condition or you are pregnant be sure to consult a doctor and your yoga instructor. This is when private classes come in handy. If you have specific health needs a private instructor can tailor a session specifically for you and can help to improve your postures. There are classes specifically for people over 40 and for pregnant women so look around for the right class for you.

Breastbone sticks out kinda funny - yoga problem?
My breastbone kinda sticks out in two places. It's not noticeable unless you run your hand over it, but it's definitely there. I saw a doctor and she had me get Xrays, Ultrasounds, and a series of blood tests. Everything came up absolutely normal and fine in all of the tests, so she said the only thing she can think of is that I'm tweaking it during yoga.
A series of radiologists have also reviewed the Xrays, etc. and confirmed that they see nothing abnormal in the bone structure or in the soft tissue. SO WHAT THE HECK IS IT??
maybe ur too skinnyDid you only notice it after you started yoga or you are sure it was not this way before yoga?
If you think yoga is doing it, you may be a person that should use props and drop your ego. By using blocks you will get better alignment and better results in poses like triangle, standing splits, half moon, etc.
Also it is a good idea to do yoga with a good teacher who can look at your body while your in the pose and offer adjustments.
What style yoga do you do? Where? How often? It could be beause of yoga
I have been practicing for a while and my wrist bone are sticking out in a different way now
